Nevada
Many people start and end their tour of Southern Utah in Vegas, where flights are cheap and a relaxing spa awaits.  But don’t forget the great natural wonders that are also along the way.  Hoover Dam lies slightly out of the way, but pass through Boulder City, the town that built Hoover Dam and the only nongaming town in Nevada.  Drive along Lake Mead National Recreation Area up towards Overton where vermillion cliffs and arches await at Valley of Fire State Park.  Stop at the Lost City Museum for a quick overview of the people who lived along the Colorado River over the last 1000 years.  Then head up I-15 for a scenic tour along the Virgin River on the way to Zion.  If coming through the Reno area, stop along Nevada’s eastern border to see Great Basin National Park.
Cedar City is centrally located to the national park adventures of Zion, Kolob Canyons, Bryce Canyon and Cedar Breaks. Cedar City is known as Festival City USA and is home of the Tony Award winning Utah Shakespearean Theater Festival and over 20 family friendly events. Surrounded by Dixie National Forest land, nearby Brian Head Resort offers scenic SKY lift rides, 200 miles of downhill mountain biking, alpine hiking, ATV tours, horseback rides and free summer concerts.
